Muse.ai's MEMORY.md cost me 70k tokens on first message, so I built a vault that only pulls memories when relevant
A Muse user found the always-on MEMORY.md eating 70k tokens on the first message, nearly a third of the usable quota. Their fix is a vault that lazy-loads memories by relevance instead of front-loading everything. A useful refinement: split the vault into hot recent context and cold archival, since relevance retrieval degrades as the vault grows.
